And I’ve been thinking about WHY people go absolutely insane on Black Friday
See, it’s not just the rush of getting a good deal.
That happens all year long whenever something goes on sale.
And I happen to think that Black Friday is totally irrational.
If you value your time at all, you are not stepping foot in any store on Black Friday at all.
So why do people do it?
Especially because sometimes the deals are not even that good!
It’s more than that.
It’s the SHARED experience of waiting in line with the crowd, or being online watching the deals countdown knowing that millions of other people are competing for the same deals.
Pushing through a ton of people and being able to say “Look, I got one of these toaster things for $3.”
It’s totally a competition.
And there are the bragging rights that come with it, too.
Come on, who has a friend or family member that talks about the best deals they’ve gotten every time you see them?
I bet you probably know at least one. (My parents are among them).
And I can understand how that shared experience gives people a rush…
So that they’ll stand out in the cold at 6 AM waiting for the doors to open.
But…it’s not for me.
And I’m not the only one in that “bucket.”
