Hey, it’s Ryan here…
And over the last few weeks I’ve recommended several fantastic books…
But for those of you who take my book recommendations seriously (Like Greg here), you might have a pretty long list of books to read.
So this week I’m going to change things up a little bit, and talk about something that’s near and dear to my heart.
And that’s my master vision for something I like to call #NextLevelKids.
I want my kids to grow up to be innovators and entrepreneurs. I want them to have the skills that they need to make a difference in the world…
And I think it’s something that all kids deserve.
We have a full-time Montessori-trained private teacher / nanny from Taiwan who teaches the boys Mandarin Chinese and teaches in the Montessori tradition.
We also send the boys to a Montessori private school – designing a custom hybrid approach.
In fact, you can see our homeschool room in this picture:
One thing that we try to do with our kids is give praise and feedback on the effort that they put in to something, not the outcome.
Because we want to cultivate in them something called “Grit.”
And instead of recommending a book to you today, I’d like to recommend you watch this short video (it’s actually a TED talk) from Angela Lee Duckworth, about what “Grit” is all about.
Check it out:
Next week, I’ll follow up with WHY I think grit is so important, and one other thing that, along with grit, forms the secret to my success.
Have a great weekend,
